The undergraduate research assistant will support a faculty‑led research project examining how algorithmically generated student groups influence compatibility, stigma reduction, and interaction quality in first‑year STEM classrooms. The study uses Social Network Analysis (SNA) to model relationship formation and collaboration patterns, with a specific focus on Multiple Regression Quadratic Assignment Procedure (MR‑QAP) statistical modeling.
Responsibilities- Clean, structure, and manage relational network datasets
- Implement and validate MR‑QAP analyses using Python
- Conduct additional SNA metrics such as centrality, density, and modularity
- Assist with data visualization and interpretation of network graphs
- Document reproducible workflows and statistical procedures
- Contribute to research reporting and manuscript preparation as appropriate
- Strong Python programming skills (required)
- Experience with data analysis libraries (pandas, numpy, stats models)
- Comfort working with relational data structures and matrix‑based statistics
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Prior experience with Social Network Analysis (e.g., Network
X) - Familiarity with permutation‑based statistical methods (MR‑QAP preferred)
- Interest in human‑computer interaction
