Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full‑time Buyer II for our Bridgeton or West Plains facility. This position will generate and execute CPSR‑compliant purchase orders based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids and other related documents for supplies, equipment, services and materials, supporting our commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) commodity team.
Job Responsibilities- Generate CPSR‑compliant purchase orders based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids and related documents.
- Perform general tactical duties to support purchasing activities.
- Follow through on supplier changes such as Engineering Change Notices.
- Assist in negotiations applying basic knowledge of commercial contract law and guidelines.
- Maintain professional relationships with suppliers and resolve issues related to pricing, quality, timing, claims and contract disputes.
- Understand demand/spend profiles for commodity areas and provide this information.
- Track and report cost savings or avoidances.
- Maintain accurate records and files of all vendor agreements and procurement records.
- Manage supplier issues (cost, quality, delivery, customer service).
- Serve as primary contact between DRS personnel and assigned suppliers.
- Support, communicate and defend the mission, values and culture of the company.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in purchasing.
- Ability to understand military specifications and read blueprints.
- Knowledge of procurement laws, contracts and breach procedures.
- Knowledge of price and cost analysis.
The salary range is $60,045.00 to $78,058.00 per year (state of Illinois). The range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer. Salary may vary based on factors such as contract categories, geography, business considerations, responsibilities, experience, and market conditions. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for annual performance‑based bonuses, equity awards and overtime pay (for non‑exempt employees).
