Responsibilities
- Procure standard production materials, components, indirect materials and supplies that meet the operation’s requirements.
- Provide tactical support to senior level buyers and purchasing manager on routine procurement issues such as invoice and receipt discrepancies, expediting orders.
- Procure assigned materials to meet JCI goals of inventory turns, cost, quality, and customer requirements.
- Place purchase orders for assigned materials and supplies and communicate blanket order, master scheduling, and forecasting requirements to suppliers.
- Recommend economical lot size for purchasing specific components to support inventory and cost goals.
- Assist with conducting quoting activities for standard components to ensure best total cost for assigned commodities.
- Support commodity cost reduction, lead‑time reduction, and supplier consolidation for less complex projects.
- Provide tactical support for inventory management programs with supply base that includes vendor stocking, consignment, and vendor‑managed inventory.
- Support company goals for minority owned and small disadvantaged business suppliers.
- Maintain data integrity of the purchasing module database.
- Assist the materials group in expediting and de‑expediting purchase orders.
- Help set standard costs on assigned commodities.
- Report work‑related injuries and near misses to supervision.
- Wear all required PPE and follow applicable safety and environmental rules; report unsafe conditions observed within the plant.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or two (2) years’ experience in purchasing, material planning, or production controls.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in a team environment desirable.
$67,000 - $100,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
