Police Dispatcher

Job Summary

As a Dispatcher, you will play a crucial role in emergency response and law enforcement operations by receiving and transmitting radio calls, dispatching emergency personnel, and providing assistance to the public.

• Candidates must successfully pass a drug test and a background check.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Previous experience in this specific field is not required, but it is preferred. All candidates will participate in training to obtain certification upon being hired.

• 12-hour night shift 2-2-3 schedule.
• Must be able to work every other weekend.
• Employees will be required to work two days on, two days off, three days on, followed by two days off, two days on, and three days off.

• Receive emergency and non-emergency calls from the public.
• Determine the type and level of response needed.
• Dispatch appropriate law enforcement, fire, or medical personnel.
• Monitor and track the status of field units.
• Maintain accurate records of calls and dispatch information.
• Use computer-aided dispatch systems to enter and retrieve information.

• Proficient in typing and transcribing information accurately.
• Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
• Competence in operating various phone systems.
• Strong conflict management skills for handling high-stress situations.
