Product Manager

Location:

Bay Area, California;
Hybrid - once a week on-site Duration: 12 months $100 - $110/hr on W2 Responsibilities:
  • Manage existing behavior change products, the development of new products, and the sunset of products at the end of their lifecycle.
  • Manage a highly complex product or group of complex products, applying Agile methodologies to research and define user problem statements, use cases, and functional requirements across multiple products.
  • Identify and evaluate existing and emerging energy-related technologies and products, and work with manufacturers and service providers to influence the development of new offerings.
  • Articulate product goals and mission to key stakeholder teams to ensure development of products that meet market needs.
  • Identify product improvement needs based on customer research, marketing and sales feedback, measurement and evaluation reports, benchmarking of alternative approaches, and internal ideation and gap analysis.
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships and oversee development milestones with transparency, appropriately involving stakeholders for sign-off on changes to processes or technology requirements.
  • Review product deliverables to confirm the offering is complete, meets specific needs, and includes optimal supporting materials both in the box and online to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assess competitive offerings and substitutes through market surveillance to identify the unique, sustainable value of the product portfolio.
  • Develop business cases identifying the principal technical and commercial levers that drive adoption decisions.
  • Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and IT estimates for work related to product improvements.
  • Test product or service offerings in the market or in simulation, and develop supporting policies and procedures.
  • Develop product briefs detailing incentive levels, technology information and verification, service offerings, and high-level go-to-market strategy.
  • Ensure product attribution by developing strategies to evolve calculators and other methods for defining product achievements in the marketplace.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing and product demonstration sessions as part of an iterative development process, ensuring deliverables meet specified acceptance criteria, achieve desired business outcomes, and include required documentation.
  • Promote a continuous improvement mindset by conducting retrospectives and sharing lessons learned.
  • Support creation and delivery of process and technology training for end users, including documentation, presentations, and in-person or virtual instructor-led sessions.
  • Provide regular written and verbal updates to leadership on project status, successes, and lessons learned, and work closely with leadership to identify ways to collaborate and meet business objectives.
  • Support marketing and sales as the subject matter expert, providing content and technology information to delivery channels.
  • Support regulatory activities by writing testimony, responding to data requests, meeting with regulators and other investor-owned utilities (IOUs), and providing content for regulatory filings and processes.
  • Staff a rotating on-call shift in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for PSPS event planning and execution.
Qualifications:
  • Significant experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner, including experience leading Agile product delivery for technology products and technical, operational processes.
  • Demonstrated experience working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), including PI planning, backlog management, and coordination across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in the energy or utilities industry, particularly with programs related to public safety, emergency operations, or regulatory compliance, preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience overseeing development milestones and managing sign-off processes across multiple teams.
  • Experience developing business cases, RFPs, and IT estimates to support product and technology decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience supporting regulatory testimony, data requests, or filings.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments, and to effectively delegate or drive tasks as needed.
