Be part of our great camp experience with our group of caring staff offering a variety of activities to children aged 5-12 for sports, arts & crafts, STEM projects, special guests, themed events, movies, parties, and field trips! Camp is held at Arroyo Vista Community Park and Recreation Center located on 69 acres with a variety of amenities in both outdoor and indoor spaces, as well as lots of open space for fun activities.
The first review of applications will be on March 22. Early application is encouraged. The Position:Camp Counselors work under the direction of the assigned supervisor, assist in the implementation of our day camp program; supervise and assist in the recreational activities of children; provide on-site supervision of camp and recreation programs; and perform a variety of tasks related to maintaining safe and healthy recreation program facilities, including setting up and cleaning up for camp and recreation programs and performing light custodial duties.
This position is hourly, and not overtime exempt. Camp Counselors receive immediate supervision from the assigned supervisor.
This is the entry level class in the Camp Counselor series. This class is distinguished from the Camp Counselor II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series.
Camp Counselor IIThis is the journey level class within the Camp Counselor series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Camp Counselor I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the Camp Counselor I level, or when filled from the outside, applicants must have prior experience.
- Lead groups of children in a variety of activities, including sports, games, arts and crafts, dramatic play, and other camp activities.
- Prepare supplies and materials for activities; monitor the use of supplies, materials, and equipment; and guide children in the appropriate use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Supervise and care for children; enforce rules and provide appropriate guidance and discipline to ensure safety; assist children with hygiene and toileting if necessary.
- Set-up and clean-up for camp and recreational programs; maintain neat and orderly facilities; perform light custodial duties as needed.
- Administer first aid according to prescribed procedures and notify emergency medical personnel when necessary.
- Provide information and respond to inquiries from program participants.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Provide responsible staff assistance and support to the assigned supervisor.
In addition to the Essential Functions above, Camp Counselor II's will:
- Process annual program enrollments; maintain participant files; process program registrations.
- Open and close facilities.
- Assist with planning, and provide recommendations for, daily camp activities.
- Assist with a variety of recreation programs and activities.
- Serve as emergency response worker as necessary.
