Job Description

Estimator / Assistant Project Manager Advanced Highway Sign

Advanced Highway Sign is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator / Assistant Project Manager to join our team. This position plays a critical role both the bidding and execution of projects in the heavy civil industry.

Position Overview

This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive project estimates and assisting with project management activities once work is awarded. The successful candidate will be involved from bid preparation through project completion and is expected to take ownership of tasks, follow projects through completion, and assist where needed to ensure project success.

Estimating (Primary Responsibility)
  • Identifying and researching projects to bid
  • Preparing and issuing RFQs to suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Actively communicating with suppliers and subcontractors to secure complete and accurate pricing
  • Reviewing and interpreting contract documents, plans, and specifications
  • Developing thorough, accurate, and competitive project estimates
  • Following through on bids from initial review through award.
Project Management Support
  • Assist with material purchasing and tracking
  • Help develop and coordinate material submittals and delivery schedules
  • Assist in managing project productivity, costs, and quality consistent with company standards.
  • Support communication between suppliers, subcontractors, field crews, and management.
  • Provide hands‑on support as needed to keep projects moving forward
Safety & Compliance
  • Assist with site and shop safety compliance
  • Promote and support a strong culture of safety across all operations
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience or knowledge in the construction industry (heavy civil)
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and contract documents
  • Understanding of basic business and project management principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities
  • Valid driver’s license
  • OSHA training or willingness to obtain
