Commercial Construction Superintendent - Mission Critical

A Superintendent directs the work flow of the project on site consistent with the project schedule and HITT safety and quality standards. The Superintendent provides leadership and serves as the liaison between project team members to promote the interest of both the business and clients in all matters, and demonstrates the characteristics of a mid‑level leader. The Superintendent communicates project priorities to site staff and all subcontractors, serving as the primary leader on site for the construction project.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and administer the HITT safety program for all subcontractors; promptly report and investigate accidents/incidents and assist in safety inspections by outside agencies.
  • Maintain HITT quality standards for all aspects of the project.
  • Lead on‑site safety, managing a safe jobsite for all involved.
  • Maintain a daily log of all activities and site conditions, manage the punch list and close‑out process through owner/architect acceptance.
  • Work with the project manager to formulate the project schedule, ensuring proper methods and sequence of installation are followed, commit to schedule, and maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain good working relationships with all subcontractors, building community relationships to enhance business opportunities and treating subcontractors fairly.
  • Ensure complete, accurate daily documentation of work orders/tickets, understand subcontractor scope of work to avoid unnecessary change orders, and identify problems early to provide solutions.
  • Develop and organize the site team, arrange for temporary facilities/utilities, and identify long‑lead items that need expediting.
  • Collaborate with the project manager and site operations team throughout the project life cycle.
Qualifications
  • Four‑year degree from an accredited university in construction, engineering, or business preferred; additional work experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years’ experience in commercial construction, including general contractor, tenant renovations, service work, occupied spaces, weekend work, or fast‑paced projects.
  • Mastery of building processes and best practices.
  • Organize necessary resources, including people, tools, and time, to meet tight deadlines and achieve desired results.
  • Project lead or superintendent experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with sector/project‑specific software such as Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Pro Core, Adobe, Blue Beam, and OSHA
    30 certification preferred.
  • Physical ability to walk/stand for long periods and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Strong communication skills – clear, concise, professional writing and speaking, with a focus on audience‑appropriate business communication.
  • Positive attitude and passion for construction and the industry.
  • Data‑driven decision making, interpreting information into meaningful insights and communicating effectively.
  • Organized task and priority management.
  • Integrity and adherence to HITTWay and core values.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of knowledge and abilities.
  • Adaptability to evolving technology, design, and methods.
  • Collaborative with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

In accordance with California’s Labor Code Section
