Responsibilities
scope, risks, and pricing requirements
- Perform quantity takeoffs, labor calculations, material pricing, and subcontractor evaluations
- Manage the bid process from opportunity identification through proposal submission
- Develop and maintain estimating databases, assemblies, labor units, and historical cost information
- Review and validate estimates prepared by junior estimators to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate with project management and operations teams during project turnover and preconstruction planning
- Assist with value engineering, constructability reviews, and cost-saving recommendations
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and industry partners
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as required
- Track bid results and market trends to improve estimating accuracy and win rates
- Support recruiting, training, and development of estimating personnel
- Minimum 7+ years of electrical estimating experience in commercial, industrial, institutional, or infrastructure construction
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, materials, and labor productivity standards
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents
- Experience preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and proposals
- Proficiency with estimating software, takeoff software, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and related construction technology platforms
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable safety regulations
- Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Experience mentoring junior estimators and working collaboratively with project teams preferred
- Electrical construction field experience, estimating certifications, or related technical education preferred
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents in both digital and printed formats
- Occasional travel to project sites, client meetings, and pre-bid walkthroughs
- Ability to climb stairs, walk construction sites, and navigate uneven terrain when conducting site visits
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to communicate effectively in office and field environments
