Position Summary:
The Construction Manager – Electrical is responsible for the overall management and execution of electrical construction projects from mobilization through completion. This position provides leadership to field teams and ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements, engineering plans, specifications, applicable codes, and Saber Power standards.
The Construction Manager works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Engineering, Safety, QA/QC, Procurement, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to coordinate all aspects of electrical construction.
Duties and Responsibilities
:
- Provide overall field leadership and management for electrical construction projects.
- Plan and coordinate construction activities, manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project resources.
- Lead Project Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen, electricians, apprentices, subcontractors, and other field personnel.
- Oversee medium- and high-voltage electrical construction, including substations, transmission and distribution facilities, renewable energy, and BESS projects.
- Manage installation of electrical equipment and systems, including transformers, switch gear, breakers, bus systems, medium- and high-voltage cable, control and protection systems, relay panels, SCADA, communications, grounding, raceways, conduit, and station service equipment.
- Review project plans, specifications, IFC drawings, electrical one-lines, wiring diagrams, and other construction documents to identify constructability issues.
- Coordinate with Engineering to resolve RFIs, design issues, field changes, and constructability concerns.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and monitor progress, productivity, labor, equipment, and material usage.
- Work closely with Project Management to monitor project costs, forecasts, change orders, and schedule performance.
- Assist with change order development, pricing, documentation, and negotiations.
- Coordinate procurement and delivery of electrical materials and equipment.
- Manage subcontractor performance and ensure contractual requirements are met.
- Conduct and participate in project, client, subcontractor, and coordination meetings.
- Serve as a key field-level point of contact for clients and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure electrical installations meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate electrical testing, commissioning, inspections, punch-list activities, and project turnover.
- Review daily reports, manpower reports, production reports, schedules, and other project documentation.
- Identify and address construction deficiencies, schedule issues, and productivity concerns.
- Assist with project closeout, as-built documentation, final inspections, and turnover.
- Champion Saber Power's safety culture and reinforce “We work safely, or not at all.”
- Ensure employees and subcontractors comply with OSHA, client, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, audits, and incident investigations as required.
- Stop work when unsafe conditions or practices are identified.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
