I'm working with a well-established heavy-civil and infrastructure contractor that is looking to add an experienced Estimator II to its estimating team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in heavy civil construction estimating who wants exposure to large, complex projects and the opportunity to work across multiple regions.
The roleYou' ll be responsible for developing detailed estimates for complex construction projects, working closely with project teams, operations, procurement and leadership to build accurate and competitive bids.
You' ll be involved throughout the estimating process, from reviewing plans and specifications through to quantity take-offs, construction planning, pricing, scheduling and final estimate reconciliation.
Key responsibilities- Develop detailed estimates for large and complex heavy-civil projects
- Review plans, specifications and contract documents
- Develop construction approaches and methodologies to support estimates
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs
- Develop preliminary project schedules
- Work with operations, procurement and other internal stakeholders during bid preparation
- Identify pricing, design, schedule and constructability issues
- Present and reconcile estimates with internal teams and clients
- Attend project meetings and occasional site visits
- Monitor industry pricing, construction methods and market trends
- 4–7+ years of estimating / construction experience
- Strong background in heavy civil, infrastructure or similar construction
- Demonstrated experience estimating complex projects
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and costs
- Hands-on experience with HCSS Heavy Bid / Heavy Bid – required
- Experience with Primavera P6 preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or AGTEK beneficial
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Ability to work to demanding bid deadlines
Someone who understands that good estimating isn' t just about putting numbers into a spreadsheet.
You should be comfortable reading plans, understanding how a project will actually be built, challenging assumptions, working with operations and producing a bid that is both accurate and commercially competitive

This would suit an Estimator, Estimator II, Project Engineer/Estimator or similar professional coming from a heavy-civil or infrastructure construction environment
.
The position can be based in Roseville, CA or Houston, TX
.
The role is primarily office-based, with occasional travel to project sites, company offices and client meetings as required.
