Position Summary

The Construction Intern supports construction projects by assisting project managers, superintendents, and field teams with daily operations. This role provides hands-on exposure to construction processes, project coordination, safety practices, scheduling, quality control, and administrative support. The internship is designed to help students gain practical experience while developing foundational knowledge of the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist project managers, superintendents, and field personnel with day-to-day construction activities.
  • Participate in jobsite walkthroughs and site inspections.
  • Monitor construction progress and assist with reporting project updates.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and related project documentation.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, cost tracking, and estimating activities.
  • Support project documentation, meeting minutes, and daily reports.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and project team members.
  • Observe and promote compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • Assist with material deliveries, inventory tracking, and procurement activities.
Qualifications Required
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, Building Science, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in construction, building processes, and project operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in both office and field environments.
Preferred
  • Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar platforms.
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
  • OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety practices.
  • Commitment to teamwork, safety, and quality workmanship.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to visit active construction sites and work in outdoor environments.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, and work boots.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
