Laborer, Construction, Construction Labor & Trades

The Underground Energy Laborer supports Equipment Operators and Foremen with underground utility construction. This is a physically demanding, hands-on role working outdoors in active construction environments.

Key Responsibilities Prepare jobsites, stage materials, set barricades, and assist with traffic control.

Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, and equipment.

Assist with trenching, excavation, back filling, compaction, and jobsite restoration.

Help install conduit, pipe, cable, vaults, and other underground utility components.

Spot Equipment Operators and follow dig-safe procedures around existing utilities.

Perform hand digging and potholing as needed.

Operate small tools and equipment such as tampers, jackhammers, and hand tools.

Clean and maintain jobsites, vehicles, tools, and equipment.

Follow OSHA, DOT, company, and jobsite safety requirements.

Work with the crew to meet daily production goals.

Required Qualifications Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.

Construction, underground utility, or general labor experience preferred.

Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications Class A CDL.Underground utility construction experience.

Experience with trenching, conduit installation, or excavation.

High School Diploma or GED.OSHA 10.Work Environment &

Physical Requirements Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, snow, mud, and other changing conditions.

Regular exposure to open trenches, moving equipment, traffic, dust, and noise.

Perform physical labor for 8–12 hours per day.

Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 80 pounds.

Stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and work on uneven terrain.

Safely use hand tools, power tools, and small construction equipment.

Overtime, weekend work, and travel may be required depending on project needs.
