Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: California
R1 is the leading provider of technology‑driven solutions that transform the patient experience and financial performance of hospitals, health systems and medical groups. We are the one company that combines the deep expertise of a global workforce of revenue cycle professionals with the industry’s most advanced technology platform, encompassing sophisticated analytics, AI, intelligent automation, and workflow orchestration.
The opportunity:
R1 is defining a new category in healthcare: an AI‑powered operating system for revenue performance. As Phare OS and R1's intelligent product portfolio continue to grow, the brand needs a senior creative leader who can make complex ideas feel simple, credible, and impossible to ignore.
- Brand experience and creative direction – lead the creative direction for major campaigns, launches, events, executive communications, and brand moments. Translate complex healthcare, technology, and revenue cycle ideas into clear stories, strong visual systems, and memorable experiences.
- Team leadership and mentorship – guide, mentor, and elevate an in‑house design team across junior, mid‑level, senior, and lead roles. Set a high bar for concept, craft, storytelling, hierarchy, presentation quality, and brand consistency.
- Campaigns and demand generation – partner with brand strategy, demand generation, content, product marketing, and growth teams to build campaign ideas that work across paid, owned, earned, sales, web, and event channels. Balance brand‑building with business performance without letting the work become generic.
- Executive and product storytelling – shape high‑stakes presentations, CEO keynotes, board materials, investor narratives, customer decks, and industry‑stage moments. Bring structure, pacing, clarity, and emotional weight to the stories R1 needs to tell.
- Events and experiences – develop creative concepts for conferences, customer experiences, leadership meetings, internal events, and industry activations. Build event identities, keynote visuals, environmental systems, digital extensions, and attendee journeys that feel connected and intentional.
- PhareOS and portfolio expression – help define how PhareOS and R1's broader product portfolio are visualized, explained, launched, and understood in market. Partner with product, sales, and marketing teams to make the platform clear, differentiated, and compelling.
- Brand systems and standards – evolve R1's creative systems, presentation standards, campaign guidelines, event toolkits, and partner playbooks. Build systems that help teams and agencies move faster while protecting the brand.
- Agency and vendor partnerships – identify, evaluate, recommend, and guide outside creative partners across brand design, motion, film, production, experiential, web, and specialized creative disciplines. Lead creative evaluation during vendor selection and help ensure external work meets R1's standards.
- 12+ years of creative experience across brand design, integrated campaigns, visual identity, presentation design, and multi‑channel storytelling.
- 5+ years leading designers or directing complex creative programs at a senior, lead, or director level.
- A portfolio that shows strong range across brand systems, campaigns, executive presentations, event creative, motion‑forward concepts, and polished design execution.
- Strong creative judgment with the ability to see the idea, the system, the detail, and the business impact at the same time.
- Experience translating complex B2B, enterprise, healthcare, technology, consulting, or similarly technical subjects into clear, compelling creative.
- Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite, with advanced PowerPoint and/or Keynote skills for executive‑level presentation work.
- Experience writing creative briefs, reviewing agency work, selecting production partners, and managing outside creative relationships.
- Motion and cinematic instincts, with the ability to concept, brief, direct, and evaluate video, animation, and experience‑led storytelling.
- Executive presence, with the ability to hold a room, defend the work, receive feedback well, and earn trust across functions.
