Job Overview
Meow Wolf is launching an Los Angeles location and seeks a Public Relations Coordinator who will leverage deep local knowledge of the city’s media ecosystem to amplify the company’s story and engagement. The Coordinator will partner with the LA Director of Marketing, Senior Director of PR, and a PR agency to plan, execute, and measure local media initiatives that drive coverage and public interest.
Key Responsibilities- Build and nurture relationships with Los Angeles broadcasters, print, digital, podcast, and emerging channels, serving as the daily contact for press and influencers to secure positive coverage.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead press previews, red‑carpet events, conferences, and milestone activations from concept through execution, including media tours, film and photo shoots, and spontaneous celebrity visits.
- Write and distribute press releases, media alerts, talking points, and media prep documents that reflect the brand voice while avoiding the typical “press‑release” feel.
- Collaborate with internal teams—Impact, Internal Communications, Marketing, Social—to ensure unified storytelling and alignment with programmatic and branding initiatives.
- Develop and maintain local partnership lists with travel bureaus, tourism boards, colleges, community organizations, and artists.
- Occasionally serve as on‑camera spokesperson for news segments and large‑group engagements.
- Provide on‑site support for tours, VIP guests, influencers, and community events, working flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- 3–5 years of PR, communications, or media relations experience with a focus on the Los Angeles market.
- Demonstrated passion for art, entertainment, culture, and attractions with a solid understanding of storytelling in the region.
- Established contacts across broadcast, print, digital, and new media within Los Angeles.
- Experience coordinating press events, managing media on‑site, and collaborating with agency partners and senior leadership.
- Strong writing skills—press releases, media alerts, talking points, and prep documents that are clear, brand‑aligned, and useful.
- Exceptional organization and ability to juggle multiple work streams under tight deadlines.
- Team‑orientated mindset that works effectively with creative, ops, marketing, and leadership teams.
- Comfortable public speaking and on‑camera presence.
