Digital Producer

Responsibilities

• Lead the transition from broadcast focused newsrooms to multi-platform newsrooms.
• Provide training in methods, processes, and tactics.
• Create and edit original content beyond what's produced for on-air broadcasts.
• Develop and lead winning strategies for station content.
• Show expert understanding of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.
• Review copy and correct errors in content, grammar, and punctuation following editorial style and formatting guidelines.
• Use social media and website to build and reinforce brand recognition and drive viewers to television.
• Determine a story’s emphasis, length, and format, and organize material accordingly.
• Research and analyze background information related to news stories to provide complete and accurate information.
• Gather information about events through research, interviews, experience, or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functions.
• Pitch on‑brand local and trending stories during morning meetings.
• Check reference materials such as books, news files or public records to obtain relevant facts.
• Shoot and edit content for on‑air and digital platforms.
• Produce reports for all platforms.
• Ensure that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Build and calendar digital campaigns to promote local shows and specials.
• Write stories for the web and other digital platforms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Find new ways to use social media and the website to engage with viewers.
• Maintain a positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co‑workers in all departments.
• Respond positively to feedback.

• Degree in journalism; daily newspaper or news site experience required.
• Live, working web samples and/or print pages preferred.
• Proficiency in Associated Press style, Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Basic HTML.
• Preferred skills in CSS, Flash, and other relevant technology.
