Job Description And DutiesUnder the direction of the Deputy Division Chief and/or the Branch Chief in the Division of Procurement and Contracts, Office of Architectural and Engineering (A&E) Contracts, the employee performs a wide variety of complex office support responsibilities. The incumbent uses good judgement, tact, effective communication skills, and knowledge of the division to respond to email inquiries. The successful candidate must adhere to ethical practices and policies, ensure best value for the State, and demonstrate a positive attitude and a commitment to providing quality service that is accurate, timely, and exceeds customers’ expectations.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’ evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in‑person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed.
Business travel may be required; reimbursement considers the employee’s designated headquarters, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquarters will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
Special Requirements- The position requires typing at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications. Applicants must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming the required speed before hiring.
