Mechanical Claims Specialist

As a Mechanical Claims Specialist, you will use your in‑depth knowledge of vehicle systems, diagnostic processes, and repair procedures to evaluate mechanical claims, support customers and repair facilities, and ensure accurate, fair decision‑making. Key Responsibilities- Evaluate, investigate, and process mechanical claims using expert knowledge of automotive systems and repair practices.
- Communicate clearly and professionally via phone and email with repair facilities, contract holders, and other stakeholders.
- Provide guidance to customers regarding approved or denied claims and explain the reasoning behind decisions.
- Assist vehicle owners with next steps when facing mechanical issues, including how to obtain quotes and determine potential claim eligibility.
- Maintain accurate electronic documentation within claims systems and adhere to departmental processes and compliance requirements.
- Deliver high‑quality customer service with empathy, patience, and active listening.
- Work closely with team leads and claim analysts to ensure consistent, fair, and ethical claim handling.
- Repair facility inquiries regarding whether specific repairs qualify for coverage under a vehicle service contract.
- Vehicle owner questions about why a claim was approved or denied.
- Customer guidance on what steps to take when experiencing a mechanical issue and how to begin the claim process.
This role requires strong mechanical knowledge to accurately assess the situation, interpret guidelines, and advise customers or dealerships on coverage decisions or next steps.
Required Qualifications- Minimum 3 years of experience as an automotive mechanic or in a closely related technical field.
- Strong understanding of vehicle repair processes and the ability to explain them to both technical and non‑technical individuals.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and confidence speaking with customers over the phone.
- Prior experience in customer service, preferably handling complex or sensitive interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Email, Teams) and comfort navigating multiple software systems simultaneously.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced call center environment with minimal supervision.
- Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and organized.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bilingual Spanish/English candidates preferred.
- ASE certifications a plus.
- Experience with labor guides (e.g., All Data) or scan tools is beneficial but not required.
- Must be willing to travel for an initial two‑week, onsite onboarding training.
- Must have a reliable high‑speed internet connection and a quiet, dedicated workspace for remote or hybrid schedules.

This is a Contract position based out of Earth City, MO.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
