Dispatcher, Customer Service​/HelpDesk

Location: Ballwin

Position Summary Answers emergency and non-emergency telephone calls.

Dispatch information received via two-way radio.

Enters information into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) system.

Monitors prisoner activity.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities Screens and forwards phone calls.

Answers radio and maintains constant contact with Patrol Officers.

Dispatches emergency vehicles.

Gives general information and directions to the public.

Makes and routes computer inquiries, entries, modifications, and cancelations.

Makes notifications relevant to police tasks at  emergency situations, exercises complete control of communications airways for the safety of all persons concerned.

Provides severe weather warnings.

Monitors prisoner welfare via video surveillance.

Functions and carries out all orders regarding the rules and regulations of the Division of Communications.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Possess an understanding of police operations and procedures.

Ability to deal courteously and calmly with the public during emergency situations.

Possesses effective communication, handwriting, and computer skills.

Possess the ability to learn basic knowledge of two-way radio operation and computer operations.

Must successfully complete required training in all phases of dispatching job requirements.

Eligibility Must be 18 years of age (minimum).High school diploma required.
