Your MissionWe are seeking an experienced Construction Document Controller to be based at our Willow Rock construction site in Kern County, California. Willow Rock is a 500 MW A‑CAES facility delivered through three EPC contractors alongside a number of direct equipment contracts, with partial financing from the U.S. Department of Energy.
Reporting to the Information Manager with day‑to‑day direction from the Construction Director, you will be the person on site who ensures the field is building from current, controlled information, and that everything the field produces is captured, controlled, and retrievable. This is a hands‑on, site‑based role offering the opportunity to establish construction document control practices on Hydrostor’s first North American construction project.
YourDay‑to‑Day Adventures
- Drawing Control at Site
:
Maintain the register of controlled copies issued at site, issue current Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and packages to the field, and physically recall and destroy superseded revisions to ensure work is never performed to outdated information. - Outstanding Deliverables: Chase drawings and documents required for construction, coordinating with the office document control team on review and approval status, and escape items presenting a risk to the construction schedule.
- Field-Generated Records: Log, route, and track field RFIs through to closure against required turnaround times, and manage non‑conformance reports (NCRs), field change notices, site instructions, and deviation requests.
- As‑Built Management: Collect as‑built redline markups from the field on a regular cycle, log them, and route them to the engineering team for incorporation.
- Quality and Completion Records: support Quality team and inspectors in document management
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain Conditions of Certification binders and supporting evidence at site, support environmental monitoring records and agency correspondence, and maintain records of regulatory inspections and findings.
- Contractor Interface: Work with the document control teams of each EPC contractor to reconcile transmittals into Hydrostor’s master document register, and receive and verify documentation arriving with equipment deliveries.
- Site Records: Maintain daily logs, site correspondence, photographic records, and posted permits and displayed documentation.
We are seeking a practical, detail‑oriented document control professional who is genuinely at home on a construction site. You would rather walk out and collect a document than send a third email about it, and you are comfortable being the person who insists on the correct revision when everyone is in a hurry. You know the difference between a rule worth bending under schedule pressure and one that is not.
This role requires direct daily interaction with contractor supervision, craft, and multidisciplinary project teams, making resilience, sound judgment, and clear communication essential for success.
