Salary: $6,488.00 – $12,152.00 per month.

Under the direction and supervision of a Senior Landscape Architect, the Landscape Associate prepares plans, specifications, estimates, written documents, presentations, and other related work for transportation projects. The incumbent makes daily decisions to solve complex landscape architectural issues, effectively analyzes a wide variety of design issues, develops practical solutions, and may be assigned a lead‑worker role to train, direct, and manage the work of other staff.

Location:

3238 S Higuera Street, San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo County. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

Employee will have an in‑office presence and may telework on a part‑time basis. Field assignments expose workers to moving vehicles, weather, equipment, heat, cold, dust, fumes, high noise, and uneven ground.

Typical office hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:45 p.m., Monday–Friday (40 hours per week). Travel in state may be required for meetings, conferences, or training.

• Eligibility determined by the LANDSCAPE ASSOCIATE, CALTRANS exam and state examination list.
• New‑to‑state candidates must be on the state examination list.
• Appointment to Range D requires a valid certificate of registration as a landscape architect issued by the California Board of Landscape Architects.
• For ranges A, B, and C, a certificate of registration is not required.
• Minimum salary ranges per classification as listed above.
