Summary
The Senior Packaging Designer is responsible for the development, execution and production of all brand packaging design concepts and 3D brand expression across multiple brands and properties. The Senior Packaging Designer collaborates with a team of designers and production artists in executing various forms of 3D brand expression, including packaging, PR kits, limited‑edition and custom packaging projects. In collaboration with the Senior Manager, Packaging Design, the position identifies trends and inspiration for each product and designs appropriate graphics that reflect the brand look while maintaining and evolving core packaging.
This role collaborates cross‑functionally to deliver elevated brand expressions that address all business needs throughout all forms of packaging.
- Conceptualizes highly creative and innovative packaging designs to address brand and product strategies.
- Partners closely with packaging, visual merchandising and creative teams to obtain key messaging and design objectives for all projects.
- Collaborates with the Creative Director to concept key product and seasonal presentations for executive review.
- Coordinates with sourcing to ensure all packaging standards are maintained and projects stay on time and within budget.
- Ensures effective communication regarding projects across all channels.
- Manages color correction and usage implementations for product photography.
- Manages projects and tasks as assigned, meeting business needs and timelines.
- Demonstrates strong presentation and communication skills.
- Leads a team of designers and production artists, both internal and contract resources, along with external vendors, in delivery of all projects.
- Minimum 3–4 years experience in packaging design.
- BA in Graphic Design or related field preferred.
- Proficient in InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong working knowledge of graphic design programs, typography, composition, color proofing, print processes, and project specifications.
- High level of initiative and ability to work independently on multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience with concepts and designing product componentry and secondary packaging.
- Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to compose and edit correspondence.
- Detail oriented with ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
- Experience with product photo shoots.
- Travel to meetings with key affiliates and on‑package photo shoots (approximately 5% of time).
