Licensed Landscape Architect
LocationSouthern and Central California (Sierra Nevada or Ojai offices), partially remote with travel to sites in outside regions.
Employment TypeFull‑Time, immediate; position open until filled.
Salary$110,000 – $145,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

As a licensed landscape architect you will be responsible for:
- Performing site assessments and coordinating with clients and consultants.
- Preparing construction documents and developing water management plans.
- Integrating regenerative design strategies such as stormwater management, water reuse, and climate‑appropriate landscaping.
- Leading the creation of construction documents and landscape design visuals.
- Teaching design software and methods to a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Improving knowledge of holistic resilient design to advance shared vision for resilient communities.
- Providing leadership on project‑based tasks and upholding overall design quality.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.
- Active California Landscape Architect license (required).
- 7+ years of related professional experience.
- Experience leading site planning, landscape design, and construction documentation.
- Experience coordinating with clients, engineers, architects, and contractors.
- High proficiency in AutoCAD;
Land‑FX experience preferred. - Advanced skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, planting design, and irrigation systems.
- Knowledge of California native plants and regional site conditions.
- Experience overseeing landscape construction administration or design‑build teams.
- Excellent professional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, remotely, or within teams.
- Holistic, multi‑benefit, nature‑based, and regenerative design experience.
- Stormwater Management, Low Impact Design (LID), and water reuse systems experience.
- Sketch Up, Rhino, or other 3D modeling and rendering software experience.
- Project management, mentoring staff, and leadership of teams.
- Experience with public‑sector or community‑based projects.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
The Licensed Landscape Architect will report to the Design Hub Manager and work closely with multidisciplinary staff including environmental designers, engineers, planners, creative development staff, and construction teams.
OnboardingWithin 1 month:
- Understand interdisciplinary programs and projects.
- Learn integration of WP toolkits and multiple benefits.
- Become comfortable using multiple platforms for communication and delegation.
- Contribute to creating compelling landscape design plans and graphics.
Within 3 months:
- Participate in multiple projects.
- Understand partners, collaborators, funders, and stakeholders.
- Recognize impact on healthy watershed communities via design, outreach, and engagement.
Within 6 months:
- Appreciate scale of impact from small sites to large watersheds.
- Create meaningful designs at various scales with diverse representations.
- Communicate actions for resilient future across communities.
