About the Studio

At Millán Architect / Studio, we design for permanence. From our studio in Venice Beach, we shape custom homes, hospitality spaces, and boutique commercial work across Los Angeles — projects rooted in sustainability and built to last.

We're a small firm by choice: it means everyone here touches projects from conception through completion, works directly with clients and collaborators, and helps shape the studio itself. We're hiring because the work is growing and we're looking for someone who wants the range of responsibilities that comes in a small studio environment.

About the Role

This role will provide production capacity across a growing slate of newly greenlit work — weighted toward high-end residential, including custom-home rebuilds in the Pacific Palisades, alongside boutique commercial projects.

You’ll work under the direction of the Principal and Project Manager / Project Architect, contributing production, coordination, and detailing across all phases — from schematic design through construction documents and construction administration. This is a hands‑on production seat with meaningful growth potential: the right person will earn increasing project ownership as they develop.

We’re looking for someone motivated, detail‑oriented, and fluent in the tools — with genuine interest in high-end residential architecture, a real commitment to craft, and the drive to grow into a Project Architect role over time.

What You’ll Do Drawing Production & Documentation
  • Produce presentation, design development, permit, and construction document sets under the direction of the Principal and Project Manager / Project Architect.
  • Develop project-specific plans, elevations, sections, details, wall sections, and schedules.
  • Maintain drawing accuracy, coordination, and standards across the project set.
  • Update drawing sets in response to redlines, design revisions, and coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, and agency officials.
Model & Set Coordination
  • Build and maintain the Archicad project model in accordance with studio standards.
  • Coordinate model geometry with structural, MEP, landscape, and other consultants.
  • Prepare and manage published PDF sets, drawing indexes, and issuance packages.
Detailing & Materials
  • Develop project-specific details in support of the design intent and detailing strategy set by the Principal.
  • Assist in the research and coordination of materials, products, assemblies, and building systems.
  • Prepare and maintain door, window, finish, and other project schedules.
Permitting & Plan Check
  • Assist with plan check submissions, corrections, and jurisdictional coordination.
  • Prepare code‑compliance information, zoning verification, and jurisdictional documentation as needed.
Construction Administration Support
  • Attend job site meetings and Assist with RFIs, submittals, shop drawing reviews, site observation reports, and OAC meeting documentation.
  • Track and log construction correspondence and coordination items.
Studio Contribution
  • Lead, mentor and coach junior staff members
  • Contribute to the studio's evolving standards, workflows, templates, and shared project knowledge.
  • Bring active questions, ideas, and observations back into the studio to sharpen how the team works.
What You Bring
  • A professional degree from a NAAB‑accredited program.
  • 4‑6 years of professional experience at an architecture firm (post‑degree), with a focus on high‑end residential work preferred.
  • Strong drawing production skills — clean, accurate, coordinated documentation.
  • Working knowledge of residential construction assemblies, materials, detailing, and applicable building codes.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating closely with the Project Manager and Principal.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, coordinated, and thoughtful work.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities with organization and clear communication.
  • Fluency in the day‑to‑day tech stack we run on:
Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Meet, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets),
    Slack
    , Dropbox
, and macOS (including Apple Mail). We're a Mac studio; daily communication and coordination live in…
