Job Summary

The BIM Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting Allied Electric's construction team by managing Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and generating accurate site layouts for industrial and commercial electrical installations. This position ensures that models are developed and maintained with precision, coordinates clash detection and layout planning, and provides accurate field layout data to support efficient, code-compliant installation.

Key Responsibilities
BIM Coordination and Modeling:
  • Develop, manage, and update 3D electrical models using Autodesk Revit, or other BIM software.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, engineers, and trade partners to ensure electrical systems are properly integrated into project models.
  • Lead clash detection efforts and collaborate with other trades to resolve coordination issues before construction.
  • Maintain model integrity throughout project lifecycle and provide up-to-date information to the field team.
Project Layout and Field Support:
  • Collaborate with field teams to deliver timely, precise layout files and ensure consistency between digital models and on-site conditions.
  • Visit job sites as needed to verify layout accuracy, provide support, and troubleshoot layout discrepancies.
  • Interpret construction drawings and translate them into field-ready digital layout data.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Serve as a bridge between engineering/design and field operations, ensuring alignment of intent and execution.
  • Coordinate with project managers, and foremen to prioritize layout needs and model updates.
  • Maintain clear documentation and logs of coordination efforts, revisions, and layout progress.
Quality and Standards:
  • Ensure all BIM deliverables meet project specifications, internal standards, and customer expectations.
  • Follow best practices for model organization, version control, and data integrity.
  • Uphold company-wide standards for digital layout and documentation consistency.
Technology and Process Improvement:
  • Stay current on BIM trends, tools, and construction layout technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide training or support to field and office staff on BIM workflows usage as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in modeling, layout, and digital project delivery.
Technical and Operational Proficiency:
  • Maintain expertise in interpreting construction documents, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance for complex assemblies and fabrication challenges.
Qualifications

Job Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in BIM coordination, digital layout, or related roles in commercial or industrial construction.
  • Background in electrical construction required; field experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the full construction lifecycle, from preconstruction through final installation.
Technical

Skills:

  • Proficiency with Autodesk, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and construction documentation.
Communication and Organizational

Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in model development and layout generation.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
