About the RoleWe’re looking for an Outdoor Living Landscape Designer to turn client goals and site information into compelling, buildable designs. You’ll work closely with our Outdoor Living Guide, design team, and Operations team from the initial site visit through design review, detailed design, permitting, engineering, and construction handoff.
This role is ideal for someone who combines creativity with strong technical accuracy and understands that great design must also be buildable and profitable.
What You’ll Do- Complete detailed site measurements using Leica DISTO X6 tools.
- Use Emlid Reach 2 RTK property data provided by the Outdoor Living Guide.
- Create 2D plans, concepts, and full-scale 3D designs.
- Design pools, patios, decks, outdoor kitchens, structures, walls, lighting, drainage, water features, and related improvements.
- Develop landscape planting concepts, including trees, shrubs, grasses, perennials, annuals, screening, mulch, rock, soil preparation, and edging.
- Prepare budgetary quantities, assumptions, allowances, and design information.
- Support client design-review meetings.
- Complete accurate and timely revisions.
- Create Operations-ready plan packages with dimensions, materials, quantities, technical details, access notes, and site constraints.
- Participate in the design-to-Operations handoff.
- Support permitting, engineering, material selections, and final contract preparation.
- Communicate design risks, missing information, and scope changes early.
- Accurate field measurements and documentation.
- Initial design packages completed within 5 to 7 business days.
- Clear, timely revisions.
- Designs that reflect client priorities.
- Fewer omissions, redesigns, and field surprises.
- Complete handoffs that Operations can use without guessing.
- Experience in outdoor living design, landscape design, hardscape, poolscape, residential construction, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of layout, grading, elevations, drainage, materials, planting design, and constructability.
- Ability to create clear 2D plans and 3D designs.
- Experience with Structure Studios or comparable design software.
- Strong attention to detail and field-measurement skills.
- Knowledge of landscape plant material and planting design.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
You’ll have meaningful ownership over high-end outdoor living projects and the opportunity to influence how design, sales, and Operations work together. Your designs will directly shape the client experience and the quality of the finished project.
