Job Overview
The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is seeking a full‑time Heart Failure, Transplant and VAD Cardiologist in the Section of Heart Failure / Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. Clinical duties will include inpatient Heart Failure, Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support services, as well as outpatient Heart Failure, Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support clinics. This role will primarily grow inpatient and outpatient services at our partner hospitals, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital and USC Arcadia Hospital.
Approximately 70% of time will be spent at these hospitals, and 30% at Keck Medical Center of USC and Los Angeles General Medical Center. Additional responsibilities may include outreach clinics, donor call, right heart catheterization, endomyocardial biopsy, and Cardio
MEMS procedures, tailored to the applicant’s experience. The candidate will also participate in research and teaching activities of the Section and Division.
Clinical practice and teaching facilities at USC include Keck Medical Center of USC, LAC+USC Medical Center, and the USC Cardiac and Vascular Institute, offering programs in heart failure, percutaneous valve implants, structural heart disease, electrophysiology, congenital heart disease, and vascular and cardiothoracic surgery. The USC Heart Failure Program is vibrant, with growth in heart transplant (40+ heart transplants including multi-organ), temporary circulatory support, and durable LVAD.
The program also participates in several ongoing industry and investigator‑initiated trials and offers an ACGME‑accredited Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology Fellowship Training Program.
Applicants must have an MD/DO degree, board‑certified (BC) in Cardiovascular Medicine and BC/BE in Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology, and be eligible for a California medical license. Clinical experience at an academic medical center is recommended. The successful candidate will receive competitive compensation and an appointment in the Department of Medicine at an academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
