Overview
Position: Physician & Surgeon, CF (Internal Medicine/Family Practice) – Wasco State Prison, Wasco, CA (Kern County).
Work status: Part-time, 20 hours per week. Salary range: $13,338.50 to $14,820 per month.
Responsibilities- Under the general direction of the Chief Physician & Surgeon, Correctional Facility (CF), provide medical care to patients in a correctional facility.
- Perform medical assessments and provide medical treatment as appropriate and as authorized by the medical license.
- Provide clinical consultation to midlevel providers and other staff; instruct nursing and other clinical staff on medical protocols; adhere to professional medical standards of care.
- Be assigned on-call duties.
- Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
- Possession of a valid internal medicine or family medicine Medical or Osteopathic Specialty Certificate issued by an American Medical Specialty Board or an American Osteopathic Specialty Board; or admissibility to an internal medicine or family medicine specialty examination as evidenced by a written statement from the Secretary of the American Board of Family Medicine or the Secretary of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
