GeneralJob Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye exams to assess vision and detect abnormalities.
- Diagnose and manage ocular conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and dry eye.
- Prescribe corrective lenses, including glasses and contact lenses.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgery.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure continuity of care.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical assessment skills.
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
- Attention to detail and precision in vision testing and prescriptions.
- Ability to manage a high volume of patients efficiently.
- Adaptability to different clinical settings and technologies.
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
- Active and unrestricted optometry license in California.
- Therapeutic pharmaceutical agent (TPA) certification, where required.
- While specific requirements may vary, most locum Optometrist positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
