Principal Investigator – Clinical Research
Barrington James is exclusively supporting a growing clinical research organisation with the appointment of an experienced Principal Investigator to join their team in Missouri.
This is an exciting opportunity for a physician who wants to play a leading role in the delivery of clinical research while remaining closely involved with patients, investigators and the wider clinical research team.
The successful candidate will be onsite five days per week and will take a key role in the oversight and conduct of clinical trials at a high-performing research site.
The OpportunityAs Principal Investigator, you will have overall medical responsibility for assigned clinical trials, ensuring studies are conducted safely, ethically and in accordance with the protocol, ICH-GCP and applicable FDA regulations.
You will work closely with the clinical research team, sponsors and CRO partners, providing medical leadership throughout the study lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as Principal Investigator across a portfolio of clinical research studies.
- Provide medical oversight of study participants from screening through to study completion.
- Conduct and oversee patient assessments, medical evaluations and safety reviews.
- Ensure clinical trials are conducted in accordance with protocol requirements, ICH-GCP, FDA regulations and applicable SOPs
. - Review and assess adverse events, serious adverse events and other safety information.
- Maintain appropriate medical oversight of delegated clinical activities.
- Work closely with Study Coordinators and the wider research team to ensure strong study execution.
- Participate in investigator meetings, sponsor/CRO discussions and monitoring visits.
- Support patient recruitment and retention activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of medical documentation and source records.
- Contribute to the development of a strong research culture and high-quality patient experience.
- Act as a senior clinical representative for the site when engaging with sponsors and CROs.
We are particularly interested in physicians who can demonstrate:
- MD/DO or equivalent medical qualification.
- Active and unrestricted Missouri medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Previous experience acting as a Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator within clinical research.
- Strong understanding of ICH-GCP and FDA clinical trial regulations
. - Experience conducting and overseeing clinical trials within a research site environment.
- Confidence working directly with patients in a clinical research setting.
- Strong understanding of protocol compliance, patient safety and medical oversight.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within clinical research.
