El Camino Health Medical Network is seeking a highly skilled Nocturnist Physician to join our growing inpatient medicine team. This role provides comprehensive overnight care to hospitalized patients in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing acute and complex medical conditions independently, responding to changes in clinical status, and working closely with overnight nursing and multidisciplinary care teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive overnight inpatient medical care to adult hospitalized patients
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions
- Respond promptly to changes in patient clinical status and urgent medical needs
- Perform admissions, patient evaluations, and cross-cover responsibilities during overnight shifts
- Develop and implement appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans
- Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, case management, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and care recommendations
- Coordinate with daytime hospitalist teams to ensure effective continuity of care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support a culture of patient safety and clinical excellence
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Eligible for medical licensure in California
- DEA license required
- Strong clinical, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions in an overnight setting
- Commitment to evidence-based medicine and patient-centered care
- Previous experience practicing as a Hospitalist or Nocturnist
- Experience managing complex hospitalized patients in an acute-care setting
- Experience with overnight admissions, cross-cover, and urgent clinical situations
- Interest in quality improvement, clinical education, or program development
- Familiarity with multidisciplinary inpatient care models
