The Community Child Care Council is looking for an Assistant Site Supervisor to join the 4

Cs team. The ideal candidate will lead the preschool’s daily program activities, helps oversee planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum, and supports the site supervisor in supervision of all staff. Assistant Site Supervisors are supervised by the Site Supervisor at a predetermined site. Assistant Site Supervisors work closely with their designated Site Supervisor, and in the absence of, the Director of Preschool Programs are supervised by, the Assistant Director of Preschool Programs and the Facilities Director.

PRIMARY

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide and ensure excellent leadership in designated classroom(s) and center in the Site Supervisor’s absence. Demonstrate a positive attitude, as well as a friendly and approachable tone of voice and body language with the entire center community: families, children, and co-workers.
  • Ensuring the quality of the program by prioritizing a positive classroom climate through proactive modeling and support, while effectively balancing some administrative duties.
  • Act as a mentor and model in the planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Collaborate and partner with the teaching team, including assistants and apprentices in documenting children’s developmental progress. Support and guide planning process, fostering a collaborative and empowering environment for the entire team’s professional growth.
  • In single-classroom centers, will serve as the lead teacher in the center, supervising children in the daily program activities.
  • In multiple-classroom centers, they will spend approximately 80% of their time in classrooms to ensure a positive classroom climate, and support as needed.
  • Support the use of the current required assessment instrument (DRDP) and provide staff support as needed.
  • In collaboration with the Site Supervisor, coordinate the planning and implementation of parent involvement activities.
  • Support the coordination of formal parent conferences for each family at least twice during the school year.
  • Support the Site Supervisor with planning one parent advisory committee meeting, and one parent education event per school year.
  • Support the Site Supervisor with the maintenance of all required State and program records.
  • Ensure compliance with all funder and licensing regulations.
  • Occasionally lead center staff meetings and attend in-service training as scheduled.
  • Attend and participate in Site Supervisor meetings as scheduled in the event of Site Supervisor’s absence.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of appropriate on-site staff development and training activities.
  • Work with the Site Supervisor and program staff to set goals as it relates to annual program evaluations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide in classroom leadership and acts as Site Supervisor in the Site Supervisor’s absence.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills in English and
    * Spanish (preferred).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet.
  • Ability to work well with people from various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Criminal record clearance (Livescan).
  • Must meet all relevant funding and licensing requirements (CA CCL, Title 22, Title
    5).
  • Current certification in CPR and Pediatric First Aid. Training completed in preventative health practices, mandated reporter, and CCL child care center operations and record keeping orientation.
  • Local travel required. Must have an insured automobile and a valid California Driver’s License.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree in early childhood education or related field – Preferred.
  • Current Site Supervisor Permit issued by CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing
