Position SummaryThe Veteran Resource Center Coordinator performs a variety of specialized duties involved in coordinating and overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the Veterans Resource Center (VRC). The Coordinator serves as liaison between student veterans, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the college’s academic divisions, counseling departments and administrative offices to assure the special needs of veterans and dependents are met and provides advisory and other services for veterans and dependents.
The Coordinator will advance knowledge of and awareness about UCR’s diverse veteran community and develop new programming that addresses issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. The incumbent works in conjunction with the Director, supervises Student Staff, and assesses the staff and unit’s needs. This position regularly travels to surrounding military installations and community colleges, conducting outreach. The Coordinator advocates for the well‑being of student veterans and performs a full range of duties with broad job knowledge, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position; the university does not sponsor employment visas.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Master’s degree.
- 4–7 years of related experience.
- Minimum of 2 years directly supporting college student veterans.
- Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization.
- Skills in judgment and decision‑making, problem solving, identifying system performance measures and actions to improve performance.
- Abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills.
- Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
- Strong knowledge of common university‑specific computer applications and university and departmental risk assessment principles and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of issues affecting veterans and/or the military‑connected student community.
Full salary range: $57,700 – $99,300 annually. Expected pay scale up to $68,100 annually.
