Overview
St. Charles Community College's (SCC) Regional Workforce Innovation Center (RWIC) in Wentzville will prepare the region's workforce for jobs in technology, welding, advanced manufacturing, robotics, logistics, healthcare, and more. SCC anticipates opening the RWIC in the Fall of 2025. At SCC, we have a passion for student success. SCC has a part-time Contract Trainer III: HVAC/R position available for the academic year.
- Teach lecture/labs and practical hands-on training in various HVAC and Refrigeration topics.
- Teach HVAC/R principles, safety procedures, tools and equipment, servicing, and installation techniques.
- Develop class projects, technical assignments, and laboratory instruction to prepare students for careers in the HVAC/R industry.
- Deliver instruction in courses that may be morning, daytime, or evening depending on the need.
- Licensed HVAC or Trade School experience in HVAC or a related field with five years of experience in the HVAC/R industry. Relevant work-related experience, recognized certifications, registered apprenticeship, and/or licensures may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
- Knowledge of HVAC/R systems, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to perform and teach various HVAC techniques, including service and installation.
- One year of instructor/training experience within the last ten years in the HVAC/R industry.
- Solid mechanical aptitude and strong understanding of HVAC systems, practices, and procedures.
- EPA Certification, NATE Certification, or other recognized industry certifications.
- Experience working with adult learners or in a workforce development setting.
- Experience delivering training in a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Three years of instructor/training experience and three years of industry experience within the last ten years in HVAC or a closely related industry.
- Experience working in an academic setting.
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and understand drawing features.
Normal physical job functions performed in a standard office environment. Position may require occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
