State Technical College of Missouri is accepting applications for an instructor to start within the Nuclear Technology program. This is a full-time, 9-month annual contract, exempt, and benefit-eligible position. Apply today at .
Job Responsibilities:
* Teach courses in nuclear radiation protection, radiation safety, and operational procedures.
* Provide hands-on training in radiation detection and measurement, decontamination techniques, and emergency response.
* Guide students in understanding regulatory compliance and industry standards (e.g., NRC, OSHA).
Curriculum Development:
* Develop and update course materials to align with industry advancements and employer needs.
* Incorporate interactive and applied learning techniques to enhance student engagement.
Student Development:
* Mentor and advise students, preparing them for roles such as Radiation Protection Technicians or similar careers.
* Evaluate student progress through assessments, projects, and hands-on demonstrations.
Collaboration:
* Partner with local and regional nuclear facilities to ensure program relevance and facilitate student internships or job placement.
* Attend industry conferences or training sessions to stay current with emerging trends.
Compliance:
* Maintain adherence to institutional policies and relevant accreditation standards.
* Ensure that all laboratory and field training activities are conducted safely.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the nuclear industry, with expertise in radiation protection; a bachelor's degree or willingness to earn one.
Certifications:
* Certified Health Physicist (CHP), Radiation Protection Technician (RPT) credentials preferred and EPRI Qualifications preferred.
Skills:
* Strong understanding of radiation physics, detection equipment, and safety protocols.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in utilizing educational technology and lab equipment.
