Job Description

JOB TITLE:
High School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Meet all requirements established by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to fill the position of high school principal in an accredited school district.
REPORTS TO:
Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent
SUPERVISION DUTIES:
All personnel in the assigned building.
JOB GOAL:
To provide for effective administration educational leadership for all departments assigned to the high school in order to attempt to meet the educational needs of all students in grades nine through 12.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The responsibilities of the high school principal can be divided into three major areas; administration, supervision, and curriculum. The scope of responsibilities for each area is noted below.
- Provide direction for the school.
- Provide leadership for positive educational change.
- Communicate standards of expected performance.
- Properly manage building level fiscal resources.
- Promote and maintain a positive school climate.
- Provide instructional leadership.
- Demonstrate effective problem solving and decision making skills.
- Demonstrate effective organizational skills.
- Demonstrate effective skills in the selection of personnel.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships.
- Systematically implement the policies and procedures of the district.
- Participate in professional growth activities.
- Effectively implement evaluation strategies to improve instruction.
- Provide for effective and efficient day-by-day operation of the school.
- Monitor the school plant and facilities.
- Establish and maintain effective discipline in the school.
- Responsible for the coordination and supervision of all extracurricular activities.
- Provide leadership in curriculum development.
- Provide for management of instruction.
- Attend Board of Education meetings.
- Assume such other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrative personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary, work day, and year to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.
