RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Leads, directs, and provides guidance for peer education and related academic support services in the LRC including but not limited to subject specific tutoring, embedded peer tutoring, proctoring services, and supplemental instruction programs for in-person and virtual platforms. Maintains fluency with CI and CSU policies relating to student (workplace) supervision and applies this knowledge effectively on a daily basis.
Oversees the LRC budgets including tracking and monitoring budgetary expenditures, assists with preparing expenditure projections, ensuring cost effective implementation of all stateside and grant funded program activities in accordance with the project scope of work and deliverables. Assists with developing and preparing annual operating budgets and related reporting.
Assists with developing and implementing the LRC’s strategic plan in collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring the mission, vision, and values of academic support services align with divisional and institutional priorities and support student success; identifies and develops initiatives to support target vulnerable courses and populations in need of high-impact interventions for academic success, in consultation with senior campus leadership.
Leads work direction, and assists and provides input for supervision and evaluation of LRC staff, including Administrative Support staff, Instructional Student Assistants, and Student Assistants who conduct and deliver the full range of services offered through the Center.
Leveraging budgetary and financial competencies, ensures the effective and efficient ongoing delivery of services; provides input to Administrator regarding physical space and equipment needs of the LRC; and works proactively to ensure the LRC is able to meet student demand.
Centralizes and unifies peer academic support services for campus-wide initiatives, grants, and programming; align and coordinate programs and services with affiliated departments as necessary (other tutoring and student services).
Applies broad knowledge of organizational structures and systems to the operation of the integrated LRC. Guides LRC Administrative Support Coordinators in identifying and resolving problems with Instructional Student Assistants and/or students using the LRC and establishing schedules for Instructional Student Assistants employed by the Center.
Provides oversight for personnel responsible for student tutor recruitment, interviews, hiring, and ongoing training. Coordinate and oversees recruitment and hiring processes for staff positions, including annual Instructional Student Assistant positions; oversees creation and updating of position descriptions, appointment letters, requisitions, applications, interviews, and HR processing for all new and separating employees.
Plans, develops, and leads regular training and development activities in support of tutoring services delivered through the LRC as well as the development and use of instructional materials for tutoring across a variety of disciplines. Develops and delivers professional development programming for faculty working with peer educators.
Coordinates outreach and engagement programming for the LRC and its academic support services to students, faculty and staff.
Facilitates regular collaboration with faculty and consultation with key programs on campus (Academic Advising, Educational Opportunity Program, Student Academic Success & Equity Initiatives, etc.).
Uses substantial judgment in the analysis, interpretation, integration, compilation, application, and presentation of LRC program data and develops, reviews and revises LRC procedures and training as needed based on that data.
Systematically and strategically integrates existing LRC programming with highly complex federal institutional performance goals and objectives to enhance institutional capacity and broaden impact on student success outcomes.
Designs and administers an ongoing plan of assessment to gauge the impact of programs and services provided by the centers; considers and analyzes data disaggregated by student demographics, majors, and services provided to advance student success goals and objectives that impact University and division-level strategic priorities.
Works with faculty and administration to advise them on program impact and continuous improvement recommendations. Consults with chairs and/or faculty representatives across the disciplines to assess operations and ongoing needs and to consider new or revised programming.
