Department of Geology Temporary Faculty Pool
Cal Poly Humboldt is located in a world-class geological laboratory on California’s North Coast. We are the only CSU located along the active Cascadia subduction zone and the south Cascades volcanic arc. Our proximity to the Mendocino Triple Junction, Six Rivers National Forest, and Trinity Alps puts students in a position to learn about a variety of dynamic geologic processes, including tectonics, earthquakes, volcanism, climate change, landslides, active rivers, and rapid erosion.
Humboldt Geology’s faculty and staff support students through hands‑on teaching in the field and laboratory, inclusive participation in meaningful research experiences, and academic advising ranging from coursework to career planning. Our program is recognized internationally, and employers and graduate programs routinely seek out our students for a range of careers in geology.
We offer two majors, a Bachelor of Science in Geology and a Bachelor of Arts in Geology with a Geosciences concentration. Additionally, we offer a Master of Science degree in Environmental Systems – Geology. We also offer a minor in Geology.
