Job Description

The Pleasant Hope R‑VI School District has an opening for a High School Boys Baseball Head Coach position for the  school year. Teaching positions in various areas may also be available with this position.

Title: HS Head Coach

Goal /

Purpose:

To provide knowledge, motivation and leadership in an activity in which the student can excel to his full potential while competing in an atmosphere that adds to his total education including his physical well being, moral character, and social and mental development.

  • Comply with school and school board policies and regulations, as well as policies set forth by MSHSAA.
  • Assume responsibility for care of materials, equipment and facilities.
  • Develop and maintain a year‑round strength and conditioning program.
  • Delegate staff assignments to assistant coaches.
  • Assist in the overall development of all levels of the sport in the community.
  • Develop and organize a practice program.
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the principal and superintendent may assign.
  • Demonstrate professional growth by attending various camps, clinics, etc.
  • Promote positive interaction with student athletes, the school and community.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for coaching and learning.
  • Show interest in student athletes and the overall athletic program.
  • Encourage self‑direction and self‑motivation in students.
  • Create clearly defined standards of behavior and academic performance.
  • Maintain an effective system of monitoring student progress and inform appropriate persons.
  • Assist Athletic Director in budget preparation, schedule development and administrative documents.
  • Develop short and long‑term goals, and work cooperatively with others to accomplish them.
