Adjunct Obstetrics Nursing Clinical Faculty
The School of Nursing and Health Professions seeks to hire part‑time (adjunct) nursing faculty to assume teaching responsibilities for pre‑licensure (undergraduate and ME‑MSS) nursing students in a clinical setting.
Applicants must hold a current, active and unencumbered California RN License and have at least one year of continuous direct patient care nursing experience within the last five years in one of the following areas: medical/surgical, geriatrics, pediatrics, obstetrics, or mental health. Experience as a clinical instructor in these areas is also acceptable.
Job Responsibilities- Serve as a clinical instructor for pre‑licensure nursing students.
- Be on‑site with students during the entire clinical experience for certain placements, or be available to students while moving among different sites.
- Conduct pre‑shift meetings/prebriefings, mid‑shift huddles, and debriefing/post‑conference sessions as required by the clinical learning experience.
- Provide continuous coaching to translate knowledge into safe, high‑quality patient‑care skills.
- Supervise student groups in the clinical setting.
- Evaluate student performance, provide frequent feedback, and conduct written performance evaluations at mid‑term and end of course to assign grades.
- Attend departmental, program, and clinical level meetings.
- Travel to the clinical site (not a USF campus) at least once per semester; some courses may require travel to multiple sites.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing with evidence of an established area of clinical expertise.
- Demonstrable skills in clinical teaching and student supervision.
- One year of direct patient‑care experience in the relevant clinical area within the last five years.
- Eligibility for approval as an Assistant Instructor by the CA Board of Registered Nursing in the relevant clinical area.
- Maintain current RN licensure.
- Hold an AHA Professional Rescuer CPR certification and current health‑records titers and immunizations.
- Maintain a valid California driver’s license.
Pay Rate: $2,101 per unit.
