Position:
In-home Reading Tutor (Part-Time, 2 hours per week)
Rate: $30 per hour
Schedule:
2 60-minute lessons per week after school (choosing from Wed/Fri between 3-7pm and Sat morning)
PRIDE Learning Co. is a premier tutoring company specializing in helping children with learning difficulties. We offer a multisensory reading program that is 100% scripted, focusing on phonics, spelling, fluency, comprehension, and writing skills. Our mission is to provide children with the tools they need to succeed in reading and beyond, all while fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.
Ideal Candidate- Ready to be trained to implement our multisensory reading program
- Experience working with school-age students and a passion for teaching
- Ability to create and maintain a positive and engaging learning environment
- Strong rapport-building skills with students
- Comfortable using electronic devices, such as a laptop, for lessons
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to motivate students
- Able to commute to the student's location in San Diego, zip 92115
- Committed to establishing and maintaining a long-term professional tutoring relationship with the student
- Provide 1:1 individualized tutoring sessions focused on enhancing students' reading and literacy skills
- Follow scripted lesson plans tailored to each student’s needs, covering phonics, spelling, fluency, comprehension, and writing
- Use PRIDE's learning technologies and resources to enhance instruction
- Manage session time effectively, ensuring a positive and focused learning environment
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs, including those with special education requirements
- Must be proactive in maintaining prompt and consistent communication with PRIDE staff to discuss student progress, challenges, and any necessary adjustments to the tutoring plan
- Experience as an instructional assistant, ABA therapist, paraprofessional, teacher, substitute teacher, graduate student in education, or speech therapist assistant is a plus
- Must have access to an electronic device (such as a laptop) for conducting lessons
