Director of Early Childhood Education
Purpose Statement
The job of Director of Early Childhood Education is done for the purpose/s of directing early childhood programs and services; coordinating with the Assistant superintendent; implementing the best possible Early Childhood Education programs; providing information and serving as a resource to others; achieving defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing, and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines.
This job reports to Assistant Superintendent
Essential Functions
- Directs department operations, the maintenance of services, and the implementation of new programs and/or processes (e.g. implementing District wide ECE programs, developing job descriptions, professional development, necessary inventory, ECSE components, budget development, assessing various physical site issues at District buildings, collaborating with coordinators and coaches, implementing PAT, etc.) for the purpose of providing exemplary services to students and staff within established time frames and in compliance with related requirements.
- Administers FER Report (e.g., preparing, completing, and submitting, ) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy, completeness, timeliness.
Compiles data from a wide variety of sources (e.g., staff, public agencies, state and federal data, outcomes from current ECE programs, grant data, budget data, Special Education Data for SIS and State reporting, etc.) for the purpose of implementing policies and procedures and monitoring program components.
Facilitates meetings, workshops, seminars, etc. (e.g., financial procedures, regulatory requirements, community or outside agencies, interdepartmental planning, professional development, new state and federal requirements, District, County, State and Federal conferences, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues, developing recommendations, supporting other staff, and serving as a District representative.
Implements budgetary and policy development processes (e.g., creating, implementing, and monitoring of PAT budgets and other budgets related to Early Childhood Education, developing policies and practices, implementing plans, setting objectives, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring historical documentation and comprehensive accuracy for effective District ECE operation.
Monitors budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities (e.g., monitoring, reviewing, and inserting necessary data into SIS, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
Oversees supervision of multiple staff, throughout the District (e.g. recruiting, interviewing, training, evaluating, grievance resolution, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining necessary staffing, enhancing productivity of staff, and ensuring achievement of necessary department/program outcomes.
Prepares a wide variety of often complex materials (e.g., plans, budgets, funding requests, reports, analyses, recommendations, grants procedures, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and issues, meeting compliance requirements, providing audit references, making presentations, and providing supporting materials for requested actions.
Presents information on a variety of topics related to administrative responsibilities (e.g., visiting and communicating with all school sites, assessing grant implementations, analyzing District ECE program needs, participating in professional development, interacting with parents and students, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders throughout the District, regarding Early Childhood Education.
Researches a variety of topics (e.g., grants, community resources, local, state, federal initiatives, pilot programs, etc.) for the purpose of being knowledgeable on trends, changes, and making recommendations.
Responds to inquiries of staff, district personnel, other professional organizations, etc. for the purpose of providing information and direction as may be required.
- Serves as a resource to district personnel and as a liaison to community, and state agencies (e.g. district committees, interagency boards, state superintendent, etc.) for the purpose of explaining procedures conveying and receiving information as needed for the planning, developing and evaluating all aspects of District Early Childhood Education.
- Develops and implements a robust marketing campaign to attract families and increase community partnership.
