Role SummaryYou will lead a comprehensive physical activity and health education program, design and implement a curriculum that promotes physical fitness, motor‑skill development, and healthy lifestyle choices, and collaborate with school staff to foster a positive, inclusive environment where students learn the importance of teamwork, fair play, and personal wellness.
Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)- Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in Physical Education (K‑9 or K‑12) and Health.
- Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, required;
Master’s degree, preferred. - Inclusive Coach: Skilled at differentiating activities so that every student, including those with diverse physical needs, can participate and succeed.
- Equity Champion: Committed to breaking down barriers for all students and understanding play as an equity issue.
- Wellness Advocate: Passionate about integrating social‑emotional learning into physical activity.
- Citizenship / Residency / Work Visa: Required.
- Inspire Movement: Design high‑energy lessons that develop fundamental motor skills and a love for physical activity.
- Educate for Life: Deliver an engaging health curriculum covering nutrition, personal safety, and emotional well‑being.
- Utilize Resources: Leverage district assets, such as the Little Creek Nature Area, for outdoor education and nature‑based movement.
- Lead the Culture: Organize school‑wide wellness events, field days, or intramural activities that build spirit and community.
- Partner in Growth: Collaborate with classroom teachers and the PROBE gifted program to integrate cross‑curricular concepts.
- Primary Support: Building Principal
- Work Year: 10‑Month Academic Calendar, 187 Contract Days
- Salary: Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule, determined by experience and education.
