Department and Position

Assistant Professor of Construction Management at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in the Department of Civil Engineering & Construction Management. Effective appointment date is August 19, 2026 (subject to budgetary approval). Salary scale is $105,000 to $110,000 dependent upon qualifications.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Construction Management, provide advisement to undergraduates, supervise graduate students, participate in curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, and departmental service. Weekly office hours, faculty meetings, assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university are required. Teaching may be on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and/or online.

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. and B.S. in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. ABD candidates must complete the doctoral degree before August 19, 2026.
  • Strong potential to teach Construction Management or Civil Engineering related courses at the college/university level, in-person, and/or online.
  • Published at least two papers in peer‑reviewed conferences or journals within the last five years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of effective engagement with a diverse student body.
  • Experience using culturally responsive pedagogy that leads to equitable outcomes.
  • Experience creating a student‑centered learning environment.
  • Research/Lab experience with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience adopting inclusive approaches to mentoring.
  • At least three years of industry experience in construction management or construction engineering.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching courses in construction management or construction engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research in construction management or construction engineering, as detailed in the research statement.
  • Participation in grant proposal preparation, either as PI or Co‑PI.
