Vocational Instructors work within the policies and practices of the Office of Correctional Education, including the implementation of only the approved curriculum. Instructors prepare instruction and assessment aligned with the CDCR Office of Correctional Education policies, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and partner organizations and associations through which CDCR students receive trade certifications.
Minimum RequirementsQualifications as specified in the Class Specification. The position is open to individuals eligible for Training and Development assignments.
Desirable QualificationsKnowledge of methods, materials, tools, machines, equipment, safety principles in teaching Masonry; understanding of vocational education developments; classroom management; student assessment; record keeping; safety measures; and ability to administer placement tests.
Skill to plan, coordinate, and implement education programs; maintain records; communicate effectively with staff, offenders, and agencies; motivate students; manage time; solve problems; and use technology.
Ability to lead, motivate, and communicate; read drawings; estimate supplies; maintain discipline and safety; prepare reports; set goals for students; operate Masonry tools; and foster inclusive learning.
