The successful applicant will plan, develop, and teach pre‑licensure Nursing Science classes in the clinical setting and campus skills lab. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate student records, coordinating clinical instruction with other faculty, participating in curriculum development, accreditation activities, and faculty meetings. Assignment may involve day, evening, night, and weekend classes/labs.
Minimum Degree RequirementsA Masters degree in nursing or higher from an accredited college or university that includes courses in nursing education.
Required Qualifications- Leadership in teaching bachelor‑level nursing and BRN content, with evaluation of student learning outcomes.
- Current active California RN license.
- At least one year of teaching experience related to medical‑surgical nursing or a similarly practice‑based course.
- At least two years of continuous full‑time RN patient‑care experience within the last three years, or eligibility for Board of Registered Nurses approval to teach medical‑surgical nursing.
- Background check; mandated reporter status under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act; compliance with CSU Executive Order 1083.
- Unrestricted CA RN license.
- Commitment to work with a diverse student population, with evidence of mentoring underrepresented students, including Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander groups.
Experience teaching areas such as critical care, emergency room, telemetry, medical, surgical, and outpatient settings; excellent communication and collaboration skills; flexibility in teaching assignments; experience with multiple teaching modalities for a diverse learner population; willingness to teach evenings, weekends, and nights.
ResponsibilitiesTeaching and office hours; assignment may include day, evening, night, and weekend classes/clinical labs.
