The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, developing, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding that supports district priorities, academic programs, student services, technology, professional development, facilities, and community initiatives. This position works collaboratively with district leaders, school administrators, finance staff, and community partners to identify funding opportunities and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Research and identify local, state, federal, and private foundation grant opportunities aligned with district goals and strategic priorities.
- Develop and write compelling grant proposals, applications, letters of inquiry, budgets, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate grant development activities with district departments, schools, and external partners.
- Maintain a comprehensive grant calendar including deadlines, reporting requirements, and submission timelines.
- Collaborate with finance and program staff to prepare accurate grant budgets and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Monitor awarded grants to ensure implementation aligns with approved objectives, expenditures, and renewal dates.
- Prepare and submit required grant reports, evaluations, and reimbursement documentation.
- Track grant performance metrics and maintain records of grant activity and outcomes.
- Assist district leadership in developing partnerships with businesses, nonprofits, higher education institutions, and community organizations.
- Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal regulations related to grants management.
- Attend meetings, workshops, and professional development activities related to grants and funding opportunities.
- Provide updates and reports to district leadership regarding grant status, funding opportunities, and outcomes.
- Support strategic planning efforts related to resource development and sustainability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public administration, education, business, nonprofit management, or related field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in grant writing, fundraising, nonprofit development, or related field preferred.
- Experience working in K–12 education or public sector organizations preferred.
- Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines in an environment with conflicting demands and priorities.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work in a cooperative and collaborative manner with all employees, school administration, business and community representatives.
- Successful completion of a background check by Human Resources.
