Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred).
- Certification:
Must hold a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate (Special Education or related field preferred). - Experience desired:
Experience working with students with disabilities and/or extracurricular program coordination. - Other Requirements:
Knowledge of Special Olympics and Unified Champion Schools programming preferred; strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to coordinate events and manage logistics; ability to collaborate with staff, students, families, and community partners; must successfully pass a background check satisfactory to the Board of Education.
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates all Special Olympics and Unified Champion Schools programming.
- Recruits, supports, and oversees coaches and volunteers involved in Special Olympics and Unified programming.
- Coordinates logistics for events, including registration, transportation, equipment, schedules, and communication with families and staff.
- Serves as the district liaison to Special Olympics Missouri and other partner organizations.
- Promotes inclusive practices and opportunities for students with and without disabilities through Unified Champion Schools initiatives.
- Collaborates with administrators, special education staff, and general education staff to ensure equitable student participation.
- Organizes and manages materials, uniforms, and equipment related to programming.
- Facilitates student leadership opportunities connected to Unified Champion Athletes programming.
- Communicates effectively with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders regarding events and participation.
- Maintains appropriate documentation, schedules, and program records.
- Maintains conduct suitable for working with students, district staff, and the public.
- Assists with other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee and complies with all district policies and procedures.
This position is being filled for the 2026-27 school year.
