Starting Date: Aug 24, 2026
Location: Selvidge Middle School – Ballwin, Missouri
Salary: $18.51 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:15 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. (7 hours per day)
Type: Full-Time
Teaching certificate preferred; substitute certification required.
Position SummaryEnhancing student achievement by helping maintain a safe environment for students and staff.
Essential Functions- Maintain a high degree of visibility in assigned areas by roaming and being present where students pass or congregate, without creating predictable patterns for intruders.
- Escort students, visitors, and staff to designated locations for disciplinary action, passing periods, administrative offices, and outside the building as needed.
- Monitor and report unusual or strange behavior or events to the security team and supervisors, including interviewing non‑classroom students and questioning strangers.
- Act as the “eyes and ears” of administration through constant observation and timely communication of information.
- Maintain courtesy and respect in all interactions, reporting incidents to supervisors and wearing required identification.
- Provide a secure environment by encouraging order, cooperation, assisting with crowd control, responding to criminal activity, and identifying physical impediments to safety.
- Enforce and observe all school district policies and state statutes, managing disruptive behavior, reporting incidents, writing reports, using communication devices, and maintaining confidentiality.
Skills and Abilities
- Walk indoor school property and monitor movement of students, staff, and visitors.
- Determine visitor eligibility through conversation and observation.
- Assess safety via walk‑through checks and inspections.
- Evaluate collected information and report to proper authorities.
- Communicate effectively with the public, students, and staff.
- Use persuasion rather than confrontation to resolve problems.
- Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions.
- Positive, caring manner with students.
- Friendly, helpful attitude working with students and staff.
- Teaching certificate preferred; substitute certification required.
- Standard office equipment.
- Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand, and reach.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
