Position Overview
Teacher/Curriculum Writer (Middle School Teaching) – responsible for supervising students, developing and delivering lesson plans, collaborating with teachers and staff, and responding to student and parent inquiries.
Responsibilities- Supervise students within the classroom and other assigned areas.
- Develop daily, standards‑aligned lesson plans for Grades 6–10 that reflect Student First lesson architecture and support rigorous Tier I instruction.
- Create daily slide decks aligned to lesson objectives and Demonstrations of Learning (DoLs) to support consistent instructional delivery across campuses.
- Design and deliver formative and summative assessments, including checks for understanding, exit tickets, reteach tasks, and unit‑level assessments aligned to Louisiana Student Standards and LEAP expectations.
- Develop Demonstrations of Learning (DoLs) aligned tightly to lesson objectives to measure student mastery within each instructional block.
- Analyze assessment guides, reporting categories, and Achievement Level Descriptors (ALDs) to strengthen alignment between daily instruction and statewide assessments.
- Ensure instructional materials reflect equitable access to grade‑level content, differentiated supports, and structured opportunities for student discourse and engagement.
- Support the development of small‑group intervention and acceleration materials aligned to student performance data.
- Collaborate with district leaders, instructional coaches, content supervisors, and instructional leadership teams to refine curriculum resources based on implementation feedback and student performance outcomes.
- Maintain curriculum documentation, pacing guidance, and instructional resources in shared district platforms.
- Participate in curriculum calibration meetings, professional learning sessions, and planning cycles aligned to Student First Network priorities.
- Implement current best practices in curriculum design and secondary instruction to improve instructional coherence and student achievement outcomes.
- Model professional collaboration and responsiveness to feedback to support continuous improvement of district instructional materials.
- Participate in summer curriculum development sessions (stipend compensation).
- Perform other duties as assigned related to the functions of the position.
- Bachelor's degree required. Current Louisiana teacher certification.
- Demonstrated success in middle or high school instruction (Grades 6–10 preferred).
- Experience developing standards‑aligned lessons, assessments, or curriculum resources strongly preferred.
- Experience working with HQIM, LEAP‑aligned instruction, or structured lesson architecture models preferred.
- Proficient in general computer use and email communication.
- Ability to work in a middle school environment with reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
- Must maintain a high standard of professional conduct in compliance with district policies.
